Just realized my 'quick fix' for a wobbly deck post actually made it worse, but then I found a trick with a car jack.

Totally get it. Been there with the car jack trick. Robertb30 is right about those quick fixes backfiring hard.

That whole "quick fix" thing is a trap. Tried to stop a door from sticking with sandpaper once. Ended up taking off so much wood you could see daylight through the gap. Had to buy a whole new slab. Sometimes you just have to admit the first idea was bad and start over.

Remember that article about the guy who fixed his wobbly table leg with duct tape? It held for a week until his cat jumped up and the whole thing collapsed, dinner plates and all. @adam_young31 and Robert are onto something. I saw a video where someone "repaired" a cracked phone screen with clear nail polish. It seeped into the electronics and fried the whole thing. That urge to just make it work right now can cost way more time and money in the end.
