PSA: Left a cheap moisture meter in my tool bag for a week and it corroded the terminals

I bought a $12 moisture meter from a hardware store to check a leaky pipe in my basement. Left it in my damp tool bag for a week and the battery terminals rusted solid, killing it. Anyone know a decent waterproof meter that won't die from a little humidity?

Read somewhere that leaving batteries in tools with high humidity is basically asking for trouble. Heard even cheap meters should dry out fine if you take the battery out between uses. For a waterproof one, I saw some people posting about a Klein meter that holds up okay in wet basements. Might be worth checking out if you can find a deal on one.

Damp tool bag = built-in rust experiment. @jakef66 nailed it though. 😂
