Pro tip: My buddy in Denver said my workbench was a wobbly mess

He pointed out I only used screws on the leg joints, which can wiggle loose over time. I went back and added four 3/8-inch lag bolts at each corner, and now it's solid as a rock. Anyone have a better way to stiffen up a bench frame?

My friend built a picnic table that shook like crazy every time someone sat down. He glued and screwed the joints but it still had a lot of play. Adding some simple metal corner braces from the hardware store made a huge difference. The whole thing just stopped moving. Sometimes you need that extra bit of metal to lock everything in place.

Yeah @ward.fiona, metal braces save so many wobbly projects.

But what about the wood itself moving? You can bolt a joint as tight as you want, but if the lumber is cheap pine that's already starting to twist, won't the whole frame just fight against those bolts? Did you check for any warping before you locked it all down?
