Update on my garage floor paint project

I was sure that etching the concrete with acid was just an extra step to sell more product. I skipped it on a small section of my floor last month and just rolled on the epoxy. Within a week, it started peeling up in sheets where my car tires sit. The painted part I DID etch first, right next to it, is still perfect after 30 days. That visual proof right on my own floor changed my mind completely. Has anyone else had a paint fail because they skipped a prep step they thought was pointless?

My basement floor looked like a science experiment gone wrong after I skipped the degreaser step on some old oil stains. The paint bubbled and flaked off in those exact spots within days, while the clean concrete held up fine. It's so frustrating to have that physical proof you cut a corner staring you in the face every day. I learned the hard way that prep work is almost never a sales gimmick with this stuff. That side-by-side comparison on your own floor is the most convincing argument there is.

Yeah, that's the kind of mistake you only make once.
