I finally hit 3 gallons of water on my basement floor trying to fix a leaky pipe myself.
I thought using a compression fitting was a quick fix, but now I'm debating if I should call a real plumber or just keep trying to seal it with more Teflon tape, so what would you do in this spot?

Stop everything and call a plumber right now. That much water means you have a real problem, not a tape fix. More Teflon will just make a bigger mess later. You already learned compression fittings aren't a quick DIY thing. Pay the pro before you ruin your floor or foundation.

Wait, compression fittings? I tried one of those under my sink last year and it leaked for a week before I gave up... you can't just crank them down, they need to sit exactly right. A real drip means the pipe itself might be shot.

That much water means the basement air is already super damp (which is a whole other headache). More tape on a bad joint just buys time for mold to start. Honestly, cut your losses and get a pro out there before the cleanup bill gets worse than the repair.
