Warning: tried using a $15 heat gun from Harbor Freight to strip paint off my front door
Ended up melting the vinyl siding right next to it because I got distracted for 2 seconds, now I gotta replace a 4 foot section of siding - has anyone else had a cheap tool cause way more damage than it saved?

Oh man, you are NOT alone on this one. I bought a cheap orbital sander at a garage sale once, and it threw the sanding disc off after like 30 seconds. It gouged a HUGE scratch right down the middle of my table I was refinishing. I ended up having to sand the whole thing down by HAND to fix it. That $5 sander cost me like 4 hours of labor and a whole lot of cuss words. It's ALWAYS the cheap tools that bite you in the butt, especially when you're trying to save a buck.
