I finally understood why my dad always used a chalk line for fence posts after my string kept sagging.

Wait, you can use a chalk line for that? I always thought they were just for carpentry. That's actually genius, way better than dealing with a saggy string all day.

My uncle used one to mark out a badminton court on his lawn every summer. The bright blue line would last for weeks, even through a few mows. We'd just re-chalk it when it got faint. Made setting up the net so much faster.

Oh man, I felt this. I spent a whole weekend trying to line up garden beds with just string before I gave up and bought one. My neighbor probably thought I was doing some weird modern art project with all the tangled mess.
