Just realized I've spent over $400 on clamps for my woodworking projects

I was cleaning the shop and lined them all up, and it hit me how many I've bought over the last few months. It started with a couple pipe clamps for a table, then I needed bar clamps for a cabinet, and it just snowballed. Anyone else have a tool or supply that quietly got out of control?

Look at it this way, you spent that money on clamps, not on a new saw you only use twice a year. Clamps are a tool you actually use all the time. They make your projects turn out right. That four hundred bucks is just the cost of doing the hobby well. It seems like a lot until you think about how much you would have messed up without them.

Always thought that was crazy until @miles_perez made me see it as buying fewer mistakes.

My buddy dropped over three hundred on fancy parallel clamps last year and still warped a tabletop. Honestly, sometimes you just need more hands or better wood, not more gear. Tbh I've seen guys with a couple basic bar clamps do cleaner work than guys with a whole wall of them. It's easy to blame the tools, but that four hundred could buy a lot of practice material instead.
