My neighbor saw my deck stain and told me I was putting it on way too thick
He came over last weekend and pointed out the drips and tacky spots, saying I was basically wasting product and it wouldn't cure right. I was using a whole gallon on my 10x12 deck, thinking more was better. I switched to a roller with a thinner nap and did two light coats instead, and it looks way smoother now. Has anyone else had a pro tip from a neighbor totally change how you finish a project?

Oh man, that's the best kind of advice because it actually works. I read somewhere that a lot of stains are meant to soak in, not sit on top, so putting it on thick just makes a mess. Your neighbor saved you from a sticky disaster for sure. It's crazy how a simple tip like that can make all the difference.
