Warning: My brother's 'quick fix' for the leaking sink
He used duct tape and now we have a mini waterfall in the kitchen.

But what if duct tape gets a bad rap for user error? I've patched a dry pipe joint under my sink with the heavy duty stuff and it held for months. The trick is the surface has to be totally dry and you wrap it tight, like crazy tight. Sometimes it's just covering a crack in a trash can until you can replace it, not a permanent fix but it beats water everywhere.

That black gorilla tape on my plastic chair lasted all last summer. It really sticks when you press it down hard for a minute.
