Had a guy at a car meet in Denver keep dodging my question about his blown head gasket for 10 minutes before he finally admitted he just wanted to flip it on Craigslist.

He kept saying 'it just needs a tune-up' while the coolant was literally bubbling out of the overflow tank, so what's the weirdest excuse you've heard someone use to avoid telling you the real problem with something they're selling?

That 'it just needs a tune-up' line gets me every time." I used to think people were just bad at explaining things, but honestly, that experience changed my mind. Now I realize a lot of sellers just hope you'll walk away or feel too awkward to push further. It's like they think if they don't say the words, the problem doesn't exist. Your mileage may vary, but I've learned to trust my gut when something feels off, especially if they keep dodging.

'just needs a tune-up' is code for run away.
