Rant: That one week last July when every customer gave me the runaround

I spent five straight days in July chasing down homeowners who kept saying 'the raccoon noise is probably just the pipes' or 'maybe it's the neighbor's dog' instead of just letting me check their attic. On Thursday, a lady insisted her scratching sounds were 'ghosts' for 20 minutes before I finally got her to show me the hole in her roof vent. Has anyone else hit a wall where people would rather dodge than admit there's a real problem?

Ghosts, huh? Maybe I should start using that excuse when my own crew asks why the truck is still half loaded.

Tbh I think you're kinda missing the point. These aren't just some random excuse people cooked up to get out of work. I had a buddy who drove a route through the Smoky Mountains for years, and he'd tell me about this one stretch where his radio would cut out and his dashboard lights would flicker. He swore he'd see a woman in white standing on the side of the road near an old crash site. Maybe it's all just tired eyes and bad wiring, but when you're out there alone at 3am and stuff like that happens, it's hard to just laugh it off.
