Rant: I used to hate taping inside corners until I switched to a different mud.

For years I used the standard all-purpose stuff and always had trouble with it pulling away. About six months ago, a guy on a job in Phoenix told me to try USG Plus 3 for the first coat. It's a bit thinner and sticks way better to the paper tape. Now my corners are smooth on the first pass, no bubbles. What's your go-to mud for corners?

My buddy had the same problem with his corners. He switched to that lightweight stuff for taping and it was a total game changer for him.

What kind of lightweight stuff are we talking about? I tried some thin tape once and it was a total disaster. The paper just ripped right off the wall when I was mudding. Maybe my mud was too wet, but it felt like trying to tape with tissue paper. I had to scrape the whole corner clean and start over with the regular stuff. Sometimes the old way is just better for a reason.
