A customer in my shop today asked me to fix her old radio from the 80s

She brought in this big silver Panasonic boom box, said it was her dad's and she just wanted to hear the static again... not even music. I opened it up and the belt had turned to goo, a real mess. She told me, 'It's not about the sound, it's about the hum it made when he was fixing his car.' Has anyone else had a repair request that was more about a memory than making something work like new?
