Traced random elevator halts to a thirsty floor buffer

Got a call for an elevator in an old office block that would just stop between floors. No faults on the controller, it would pause for about thirty seconds then carry on. The building manager was sure it was haunted. I rode it for half a day and saw it only quit in the late afternoon. That lined up with the cleaning crew buffing the third floor lobby. The big buffer they used was sucking too much power from the same circuit as the elevator's controls. I told them to plug it into a different outlet. Problem went away, and I got called a ghostbuster for a while.

Ever had a ghost hunt turn into something simple like that? I'd have been too busy freaking out about a haunted elevator to ever figure out the real problem, lol. My detective work stops at finding a missing tv remote.

@sarah_kelly78, I used to freak out too but a 'ghost' was just my fridge, lol.
