Serious question, does every watering error really lead to plant loss?
I once gave a lawn too much water and expected the worst. It actually revealed where the sprinklers were missing, so I adjusted them and now the grass is lush.

Yeah exactly, I overwatered some shrubs once and it just showed me all the dry spots in the bed so I could fix them. Sometimes a mistake just points out what you need to adjust.

So when you saw those dry patches @andrew_craig, what did they actually look like? Were they just areas where the water totally pooled and ran off, or did the soil itself change color? Trying to figure out what to look for in my own yard.
