Struggling to meditate showed me small steps work

I always got distracted and quit early. Now I do just two minutes a day and it helps a lot.

My dad did the two minute thing for years and still couldn't quiet his mind. He finally had to commit to a full twenty minute routine before it clicked for him. Sometimes the small step is just building the discipline to do the real work.

It's like trying to learn guitar by only practicing for two minutes a day. You'll never build the muscle memory. Same with dieting, those tiny changes don't stick unless you fully change how you shop and cook. The big time investment forces a real system change that small steps just avoid.

Tbh that makes a lot of sense. Honestly, trying to quiet your mind in just two minutes is like trying to stop a freight train on a dime. Maybe try five minutes with a timer and just focus on counting breaths, one through ten, then start over. Ngl, the first few weeks feel impossible but your brain does eventually get the hint.
