Changed my mind about using a rasp for a certain job after a tough morning
I was working on a draft horse near Lexington that had a really uneven hoof wall, and I just kept going at it with my regular rasp for what felt like forever. The owner, an older guy named Frank, quietly suggested I try his nippers first to take off the bigger flares. I was skeptical because I'm so used to my method, but I gave it a shot. It cut the work time in half and gave me a much cleaner line to start with. Anyone have a different tool they switched to that made a surprising difference?

Honestly, that thing about the nippers making a cleaner line first is so true. I had a stubborn case like that and switched to using a grinder with a sanding disc for the initial leveling. Tbh it felt wrong to go electric, but it took down the high spots in minutes so I could finish with the hand tools.

That "felt wrong to go electric" part is a whole mood, hugos67. It's like feeling guilty for using a dishwasher instead of hand washing every plate. Sometimes the right tool is just faster.
