Tbh my first time using a pressure washer on my deck ended with a 2-inch deep trench

I used to just point and spray, but after that disaster last summer, I now keep the nozzle at least 18 inches away and move it constantly in wide, overlapping strokes, so has anyone else learned a similar lesson the hard way?

Honestly that's a classic rookie move right there. Ngl I did the exact same thing to my mom's patio furniture, just totally shredded the wood on a chair leg. Felt so bad. Now I treat the thing like it's a laser beam and test spray on the concrete first every single time.

Totally get it. I carved a nice little groove right into my own fence post before I figured it out. That sound of wood splintering under the spray is just the worst feeling. You think you're cleaning and then suddenly you're doing major damage. It's crazy how much power those things have when you get too close. I treat mine with a lot more respect now too.
