My old fear of electrical work faded after a simple switch replacement

I used to avoid anything with wires because it seemed too risky. One weekend, my uncle guided me through swapping out a broken light switch. Seeing how straightforward it was made me realize I could handle small jobs. Now I tackle minor fixes without a second thought. It's a shift that saved me a lot of call-out fees over the years.

Kinda wild how fixing one thing makes you wanna tackle other stuff you used to avoid. I mean, after I replaced an outlet, I felt like I could maybe handle basic plumbing too. Idk, it's like a domino effect.

Seriously @jakeperry, is fixing an outlet really that big of a life change?

Totally get what Jake's saying. Fixed a wobbly ceiling fan last month and suddenly I'm looking at all the other little broken things in my house differently. That one win makes you feel less helpless about the rest of it, you know? Like you've proven you can figure something out without calling someone. Now I've got a list of small fixes I'm actually willing to try.
