My buddy's advice to stop using fabric softener was spot on

Last month my friend Mike told me to quit using fabric softener on my towels because it coats the fibers and kills absorbency. I figured he was just being picky, but after three washes without it, my bath towels actually dry me off now instead of just pushing water around. The kicker is I also noticed less lint in the dryer trap, maybe a 40% drop. Has anyone else tried ditching softener and seen a difference?

Used to think fabric softener was just part of doing laundry, like you had to use it. My wife pushed me to stop using it on towels and workout clothes a few years back, and she was totally right. The biggest thing I noticed was how much faster my towels actually dry me off now. Also never realized how much gunk it was leaving behind in the machine itself. So yeah, Mike's advice was solid, I'm fully converted.
