My neighbor's comment about his 2008 laptop made me rethink my whole setup
He was outside with it, said he just put in a cheap solid state drive and doubled the ram for under fifty bucks. He told me, 'It runs faster than my kid's new one now.' I always figured old computers were just slow and done. Now I'm looking at my own ten year old desktop, thinking maybe I should try to fix it up instead of shopping. Has anyone else done a simple upgrade like that and been shocked?
Actually, that's a great point about old hardware. Just a small thing though, doubling the RAM on a really old machine can sometimes hit a limit set by the motherboard. But a cheap SSD is almost always a game changer.
