Showerthought: I just fixed my 100th piece of old tech this year
I mean, I started keeping a list in January and hit the number this morning with a 2005 iPod. It's crazy how much stuff you can save from the trash with a little patience and some basic tools. Has anyone else hit a number that made them stop and think?

Honestly it feels like we're hitting a turning point where fixing things is becoming a real choice again instead of just throwing stuff out. I see it with my friends too, everyone's suddenly trying to fix a toaster or an old game console. Makes you wonder if the whole "just buy a new one" message is finally starting to wear thin. Saving that much stuff from the landfill has to add up.

You said it's a turning point and I agree. It's not just about saving one thing from the trash. It's about learning that you can. That first fix changes how you see everything else you own. It makes you question why we ever accepted that things just die. That feeling spreads.

Doubt it's some big cultural shift. Most people still toss broken things without a second thought. That 2005 iPod is cool, but fixing a modern phone with glued parts is a nightmare. Feels more like a niche hobby than a real change in how we deal with trash.
