I finally get why everyone uses knee pads after that embarrassing fall in front of the homeowners.
Their laughter taught me to never skip safety gear again.

Ugh, hearing that takes me back. My friend Sam was installing flooring and his knee hit a concrete patch bare, no pads. He came up limping so bad the client made him sit down for an hour. He still brings up how dumb he felt, and now he checks his gear like three times before starting.

My friend Jake took a spill on a wet floor at a job site last year. He swears by knee pads now, says his pride never fully recovered.

My buddy Mark had a similar thing happen, just like robertc44 said about Jake. He slipped on some loose tiles and landed right on his kneecap. The embarrassment of yelping in front of the whole crew lasted way longer than the bruise.
