The garden center down the street started using compostable wrap in March. Now they have twice as many people asking for it, which is great until you realize most of it ends up in the trash anyway. I looked into bulk suppliers last year, and the prices were so high you'd think they were wrapping flowers in gold leaf. The whole thing feels like a trend where everyone wants to feel green without actually doing the work. Finding a good supplier is tough because half of them sell stuff that barely breaks down in a home compost pile. You might as well just use newspaper and save yourself the headache.

So what if it ends up in the trash sometimes? Isn't some effort still better than none at all, Oliver? Sure, it's not a perfect fix and the prices are crazy, but at least the idea is getting out there. People have to start somewhere, even if it's just feeling good about a compostable wrap before they learn to actually compost it. You're right that finding real stuff is hard, but calling it just a trend feels too harsh. Most folks aren't trying to skip the work, they just don't know better yet.

My friend Nina got some of that fancy compostable wrap for her flower stall last spring... the brand with the little leaf logo. She buried a piece in her backyard bin to test it, and six months later you could still read the print on it. Felt pretty bad selling the stuff after that, honestly.
