Appreciation post: our move to water-based binders helped air, but mold strength took a hit.

Our shop switched to water-based binders to cut down on silica dust. Now, a few guys say the molds don't hold up as well under heat. Are we sacrificing quality for cleaner air?

Remember water-based binders hate humidity as much as heat. If your shop air got more humid with the switch, that alone can soften a mold before it even sees the furnace. Check your drying times and air flow, not just the oven temp.

They didn't test the molds for heat resistance first? Cleaner air is good but broken molds sound worse.
