Scrap metal sorting eats up our shift time for no good reason
We have this big pile of mixed metal scraps that takes forever to sort through every day. I counted, and it's a solid 30 minutes gone just separating aluminum from steel because there's no system. That's half an hour we could be pouring or finishing casts instead. It's plain stupid not to have marked bins for each type, and I'm tired of pretending it's okay.

Grab a magnet, steel sticks, aluminum doesn't.

Man, that magnet trick is gold for sorting scrap. I use it all the time when I'm cleaning out my garage. You can instantly tell old steel bolts from aluminum pieces. It saved me a ton of hassle last week sorting through a mixed bin of old cans and hardware. Ever tried this at a scrap yard?
