The hospice nurse who smiled while holding my hand for 30 seconds too long

Has anyone else caught a caregiver or doctor giving off that creepy mechanical vibe during a tough moment?

and that's the thing about those little moments in healthcare, they stick with you way longer than they should. you start wondering if it's just their training taking over or if there's something else going on beneath that smile. it's like your gut is picking up on something your brain can't quite name yet.

nah i gotta push back on this a little. i think sometimes we overthink those moments. like yeah, healthcare workers are trained to be professional and smile, but most of them genuinely care. that smile isn't always hiding something dark. sometimes it's just a tired person trying to do their job right. your gut might be picking up on your own anxiety more than anything else. i've been in those rooms where you're waiting for bad news and every little thing feels suspicious. but most of the time it's just normal human interaction with some medical training mixed in.
