Warning: My cheap socket set finally snapped a 10mm on a rusty caliper bolt
Happened last Saturday on a 2005 Civic in my driveway, and I had to borrow my neighbor's Snap-On to finish the job, has anyone else had a budget tool fail at the worst possible moment?

...and honestly that's kind of the tradeoff with cheap tools. You save money upfront but they let you down exactly when you need them most. My Harbor Freight set held up for years until it didn't. Snapped a ratchet on a transmission bolt and spent an hour trying to get the broken piece out. Ended up buying a midrange set after that and never looked back.

Man, that's rough! @william816, I got a similar story but with a different tool. Bought a cheap cordless drill from a random brand at a flea market, worked fine for like three projects, then the chuck just locked up halfway through drilling into a stud. Took me forever to get the bit out, now it's just a paperweight in my garage. You ever have a tool fail on you in a way that made the job way worse than it had to be?
