Rant: That one time a customer's kindness actually paid off

Was delivering food in the rain and the guy at the door handed me a hot coffee too. Stuff like that doesn't happen often, but when it does, you remember not all people are awful.

Read a story once about a pizza guy caught in a snowstorm. The family not only tipped big but invited him in to wait it out and gave him a whole thermos of soup for the road. Those random acts of kindness really stick with you. It proves a small gesture can completely change someone's whole day, maybe even their outlook on the job.

Mason.faith that's a nice story but it feels like the exception, not the rule. I've seen delivery guys soaked in rain just handed a cash tip through a cracked door, no invite to dry off. Most shifts are about speed, not soup thermoses. The real outlook changer would be customers consistently leaving fair tips on a normal Tuesday, not just grand gestures during a storm. That's what actually changes the job day to day.

Wait, they gave him a whole thermos? Like, just gave it away? That's wild. I've seen people hand over a bottle of water maybe. But a whole thermos of soup is a commitment. You don't just have an extra thermos lying around. That family went into their cabinet for that. Makes you wonder how bad that storm really was.
