My bathroom caulk job looked terrible after 3 tries until I used a basic ice cube trick
I kept getting these lumpy, uneven lines around the tub and nothing I tried made it smooth. Then I ran an ice cube along the fresh bead and it came out glass-smooth in about 2 minutes flat. Has anyone else found a weird tool that worked better than the fancy ones?

Sucks man, I went through that same headache. I ended up just using a damp finger instead of any fancy tool, and honestly it worked better than any caulk finisher I ever bought. The trick is to wet it and keep a steady pressure, no stopping in the middle. Ice cube sounds smarter though because it wouldn't leave fingerprints or stick like my finger did. Might try that next time.

And yeah, @jakeperry, that damp finger trick is a classic but I've had times where the caulk just stuck no matter what. My old man used to swear by a spoon dipped in soapy water. He'd run the back of it along the bead and it came out perfect every time. I tried it once and ended up with soap bubbles in the caulk, so maybe he was just good at it. The ice cube thing does sound cleaner though, I bet it glides way smoother than anything else.
