That "entry level" job wanted 5 years of experience - make it make sense
I was scrolling through listings last night and saw a posting for an "entry level" marketing assistant that required a bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of experience. For $15 an hour in Austin. I laughed out loud and then felt kinda sick because I've been applying for similar stuff for 6 months now. Has anyone else noticed companies using "entry level" as a total lie just to underpay people?

A bachelor's plus 3-5 years experience for $15 an hour is pure garbage, I can't argue with that part. But most of the time "entry level" just means you're new to that specific company, not that you're fresh out of school with zero professional history. Companies want someone who's done the job somewhere else so they don't have to train you from scratch. It's lazy hiring but it's also their way of filtering out people who haven't been in the workforce at all. The real problem is they're pairing that requirement with peanuts wages.
