The Pixel 7a overheated on me at Disney World last month
I was standing in line for Tron at 2 PM, trying to pull up our Lightning Lane passes, and my phone just gave me a black screen with a thermometer icon. For a solid 10 minutes I couldn't even open the app, so we missed our window. Has anyone else had a midrange phone just fail on them in direct sun or heat like that?

That "black screen with a thermometer icon" part really got me. My old Galaxy A52 did the same thing to me last summer at a food truck festival. It was like 95 degrees out and I was trying to pay for tacos and the screen just died. I had to wait like 10 minutes under a tree before it would even turn back on. So yeah, midrange phones seem to really hate direct sun and heat, especially when you're trying to do something important.

Yeah I read somewhere that a lot of phone makers use cheaper thermal paste or just don't have enough of it in the midrange models. So they just heat soak way faster than the flagships when you're outside.
