An old mechanic's story about a 1967 Chevy made me reconsider my own car's weird noises
I was at a diner last Saturday and overheard this guy talking about how his Impala would play the radio by itself after the engine died. He said it was just a short in the wiring, not a ghost, and that got me thinking about my own car's weird humming at night. Has anyone else had a mechanic explain away something creepy with a simple fix?

Did you ever figure out what the humming was? I had a similar thing with my old truck a few years back, turned out to be a loose heat shield vibrating against the exhaust pipe. It only happened at night too, which made it feel way creepier than it actually was.

Wait, is that right about the radio playing after the engine died? I thought the battery would be dead if the engine wasn't running, so the radio wouldn't have power either. Maybe he meant it happened right before the engine actually stopped, like a dying alternator thing.
