Spent $40 on a dash cam and it saved me from an insurance scam

I bought a cheap dash cam off Amazon after reading about fake accidents. Three weeks later a guy slammed his brakes in front of me on I-35 in Austin. He claimed I rear-ended him but the video showed he brake-checked me. His insurance backed off fast and my rates never went up. Has anyone else had a dash cam pay for itself like this?

My buddy in Dallas had some guy fake a whiplash claim after a fender bender. He didn't have a cam, so his insurance just paid out like ten grand to avoid a lawsuit. His rates shot up for years. He bought a cam the next week.

and the thing nobody talks about is how these scammers target people with newer cars specifically because they know your insurance company will just pay to make it go away. they figure you've got more to lose by fighting it and your deductible is probably higher than what they're asking for. it's a whole system they've learned to work and cams are the only real check against it.
