Unpopular opinion: I think updated beach towns lose the magic my family trips had.
Any ideas for a place that still has the feel of a 1980s seaside holiday?

Man, I used to roll my eyes at that idea but you're totally right. Try the Oregon coast, some towns like Seaside still have that time warp feel with the arcades and saltwater taffy shops.

Remember visiting Seaside a few years back and it felt pretty built up now. For that real 80s vibe, check out places like Ocean City, New Jersey, especially the boardwalk part. It still has those classic arcades and cheap eateries from decades ago. The motels there even look like they're frozen in time. What spots along the coast have you guys found that haven't changed much?

My cousin dragged me to Wildwood, New Jersey last summer. I always figured those old boardwalk towns got too fancy. But walking down that boardwalk was like stepping back in time! After reading @jake_taylor's take on the Oregon coast, it made me realize these places are still out there. The rides, the food stands, even the smell of salt and fries felt exactly like my childhood trips. It's pretty cool how some spots fight to keep that charm instead of building everything new.
