The brand new auger I bought snapped in half on my first job last Thursday

I shelled out $180 for a Milwaukee 50-foot drum auger from the supply house, thinking it'd be the last one I'd ever need. First clog at a house on Elm Street, third push into the line, and the cable just twisted and snapped like a cheap pretzel. Has anyone else had a major tool fail right out of the box like that, or did I just get a lemon?

Oh man, that's rough. Just to gently point out, Milwaukee makes fantastic power tools but drum augers are more of a ridgid or general thing, Milwaukee doesn't actually make them themselves. So it might have been a different brand in a Milwaukee box or something. Still, $180 for a cable that snaps on the first job is totally unacceptable.

Bet my luck that I'd buy the one tool that makes Milwaukee look like a toy brand. At this rate, I'm half expecting my next coffee maker to clog and snap on me too. At least now I know I'm not alone in the "paid full price for a paperweight" club.
