Warning: That cheap bondo from the hardware store cost me extra hours

Overheard a guy at the auto parts shop say he uses the same filler on his truck as his drywall. Tried it on a rust hole in my '79 Cutlass to save $12. Spent the next Saturday sanding it back off because it crumbled under the primer. Has anyone else found a budget brand that actually holds up on body panels?

Yeah man, I feel your pain on that one. I tried the same thing on a rusty fender on my old F-150 and it just wouldn't hold up, cracked right through the primer. Learned that lesson the hard way too, sometimes saving a few bucks just isn't worth the extra weekend.

Totally been there, man. I swapped to a name brand filler after trying the cheap stuff once and it sands way smoother with zero crumbling issues.
