My mechanic buddy told me to stop using premium gas in my Civic

He said it's a waste at $4.50 a gallon for an engine that doesn't need it, so I switched to regular... car actually runs smoother now. Has anyone else found their car prefers the cheap stuff?

My 2018 Civic actually HATED premium gas, it would hesitate and feel slugish. I switched to regular at around 35k miles and it's been totally fine ever since, 85k now no issues at all.

Dude I was totally that guy buying premium for my old sedan thinking I was doing something good for it, but then I actually looked up the manual and felt like an idiot lol. This thread honestly made me realize I was just flushing money down the drain for zero benefit. Pretty wild how these newer cars just run better on what they're designed for.
