I finally get why old-timers swear by cleaning carburetor jets with a single strand of copper wire

Had a chat with a retired machinist at the swap meet last Saturday who showed me how just one pass with 22-gauge wire cleared a clogged idle jet on my 350cc Honda that three cans of spray cleaner couldn't touch, and now I'm wondering how many other simple tricks I've been overcomplicating for years - any of you got a go-to method that sounds too simple to work but always does?

You mentioned you tried three cans of cleaner first - what kind were you using, was it the cheap spray or the actual dip stuff?

oh man, i feel you so hard on this. i tried the cheap spray stuff first too, the ones from the auto parts store that promise to "eat away grease" in like 30 seconds. what a joke. then i moved up to the actual carb dip in a little can and it was slightly better but still took forever and left all this weird residue. i was so frustrated i almost gave up and just bought a whole new carb online. its honestly such a pain when you follow the directions perfectly and it still doesnt work like they claim. did you end up trying the soaking method with the big bucket of cleaner?
