Spent $12 on a rubber mallet and it fixed my printer jam problem
I was getting so frustrated at work with this printer jamming every 20 pages. Tried everything, cleaning rollers, new toner, the whole deal. Finally grabbed a cheap rubber mallet from Harbor Freight and gave the side a couple gentle taps when it jammed. Paper came right out and it hasn't jammed since. Anyone else use weird tools on office equipment?

So was it just one specific spot you hit, or did you give it a few taps in different places? I'm wondering if there's a trick to where the mallet works best because I've got an old HP that does the same thing. Did you aim for the side near the jam or more towards the top of the machine near where the rollers are?

One specific spot" is exactly what my buddy did with his Dell. He was so fed up one night he just whacked the top right corner near the paper feed. It actually worked for about three pages then jammed again. He tried a few more taps around the same area but nothing stuck. Ended up having to take the whole thing apart and clean the rollers anyway. So I'd say the mallet is more of a temporary fix than a real trick.
