inApplied for a store card for a 15% discount and lost 28 points off my credit score.
Bet on it happening to me too with a Kohl's card. In my experience, the first month is the worst because the hard pull and the new account both hit at once. It usually bounces back within 3-4 months if you keep making payments on time and don't apply for anything else. The good news is that 28 points isn't permanent damage, your score should recover as the account ages. Just don't close the card no matter what, that would be another unnecessary hit.

inDeli slicer jammed mid-rush and I lost a whole order of roast beef
Lost a whole order of roast beef" man that hurts just reading it. I worked at a butcher shop in Chicago and our grinder clogged right before a big holiday weekend. Its like the universe picks the worst moments to test you. For the customer I just gave them the fresh sliced meat for free and threw in an extra quarter pound on the house. Most people get it when they see youre sweating and covered in meat juice.

inOverheard my brother-in-law lecturing his kid about the 'family loan' thing...
My dad finally brought it up at a family BBQ last summer. He said something like "Hey, remember that $3,000 from a few years back?" and left it hanging there. His brother just shrugged and said he'd get around to it, but nothing ever came of it, so your mileage may vary on direct confrontation.

inWhy does nobody talk about how hard it is to finish a show with bad pacing?
Has anyone actually studied why bad pacing makes shows feel like a wasted investment of time? It's not just about being bored, it's about the trust you built with the show unraveling. You start wondering if the writers even had a plan or if they're just stretching for filler. That's why I dropped The Walking Dead too, it felt like they were milking episodes instead of telling a story. Pacing ruins the whole experience because it makes you question everything the show is trying to do.
