Unpopular opinion: spending $60 on that "pro" whittling knife set was a total waste

Bought a 5 piece set from a woodcarving forum's favorite brand back in March. Used them twice. The edges chipped on basswood and the handles felt cheap in my hand after 20 minutes. My grandpa's old Opinel does a better job and cost me nothing. Anyone else been burned by overhyped carving tools?

Ugh same here! Mine barely lasted a week before it chipped.
