Why does nobody talk about the social pressure of an unfinished garden bed?
I started digging a new flower bed last spring but never got around to planting anything. Now my neighbors keep leaving seed packets on my porch with encouraging notes, and it makes me feel really guilty. Any tips on how to push through and actually plant something?

Those seed packets are actually a good sign. Your neighbors aren't judging you, they're trying to help you finish the job. Start with one packet, something cheap and easy like marigolds. Just get something in the ground to break the spell. Once you see one plant growing, the rest gets easier. Gardens are never really finished anyway, so just call whatever you plant the first draft.

Hold on, they're leaving seed packets on your porch? That's next level neighbor pressure right there. I'd feel so watched every time I stepped outside, lol. But joseph_black is right, just toss some marigolds in there to shut off the guilt trip. Once you break the ice with one plant, the rest won't seem so bad. Your garden bed is basically a group project now, whether you like it or not.
