Unpopular opinion: I think the new weld test rules are making things worse

I saw a big change in our shop's pass rate over the last year. We went from about 90% of guys passing their 6G pipe test on the first try down to maybe 60%. The main cause is the new rule from the hall that says you have to use a specific brand of low-hydrogen rod for the test, even on carbon steel. It's a lot less forgiving if your arc gets a little long. I've watched three good hands fail in the last month because of it. Has your local seen a drop in test passes since they changed the rod spec?

Question about filler migration after a lip job

I was at a friend's wedding in Phoenix and my lip filler started to feel lumpy and move around after a few hours in the sun. I had to discreetly massage it in the bathroom to try and smooth it out, which only helped a little. Has anyone else had filler shift on them during a long event, and what did you do?

A client in Phoenix wanted a 4 foot chain link fence with posts set 10 feet apart to save money.

I had to explain that even with light gauge mesh, that spacing is too wide and the fence will sag and wobble in the wind. I always set posts at 8 foot centers for residential chain link, but some guys I know will push it to 9 feet to cut costs. What's the max spacing you think is safe before you're asking for a callback?

My credit score tanked 40 points after a medical bill went to collections in Dallas

Last month, I got a letter from a collection agency for a $250 ER copay I totally forgot about. It was from a visit in Dallas three years ago. I paid it off the same day I got the letter, but my FICO score still dropped from 720 to 680. I thought paying it would fix things faster. Has anyone had luck getting a paid medical collection removed from their report?

Stuck on a noisy amplifier fix, I traced it to a cold joint. Some say reflow everything, others target the suspect. What's your take?

I had this old amp with constant hum. After checking the usual grounds, I found a single cold solder joint on the power supply. My buddy says to reflow the whole board to be safe, but I think just fixing the bad spot is enough. How do you guys handle this?
