A farmer in Nebraska told me he's planting a different crop now

I was at a truck stop diner outside of Lincoln last spring, just grabbing some coffee. The guy at the next stool saw my rig and started talking about how the weather has been messing with his planting schedule. He said, 'I've been growing corn here for forty years, but the last three seasons have been too dry. This year, I'm trying sorghum on half my acres.' He wasn't angry, just stating a fact. It made me think about how climate change isn't just a news story for some people, it's a real choice they have to make every day. Has anyone else heard about farmers changing what they grow because of the weather?

Yeah, read an article about soybean farmers switching to cotton down south for the same reason.

My uncle always said climate talk was overblown until his peach trees started blooming too early and getting killed by frost. Now he's putting in a whole new orchard with later-blooming varieties. It's a huge cost for him, but he says he doesn't have a choice anymore. Seeing that happen right in his backyard really shifted how I see all this. What are some other crops people are switching to?
