Why my messy workbench lets me fix bikes twice as fast
I know everyone says to keep a clean workspace, but my cluttered bench works for me. When I'm deep in a repair, I need tools right there, not in some drawer. For example, during a brake bleed, I have all the syringes and hoses laid out. It cuts down on time looking for things. Sure, it looks messy, but I know where everything is. I've tried being neat, and it just slows me down. Believe me, a little clutter can help you work faster.

Reminds me of my old shop teacher, and @violafox might get a kick out of this.

I've always worked better with a bit of clutter around my tools. When everything is laid out, I can grab what I need without stopping. That system saves me a lot of time in the long run.
