Almost set my garage on fire using a heat gun on old paint
Last Saturday I was stripping paint off my garage door frame with a heat gun and the old paint started bubbling and smoking way faster than I expected. Turns out my house was built in 1955 and the trim has layers of paint going back decades, and some of that stuff catches quick when you get it too hot. I had a fire extinguisher 10 feet away but I still stood there for a second not knowing what to do. Now I keep the gun on low and do small sections, but I'm wondering if anyone in the ABQ area has dealt with lead paint on old trim and what you did.
