PSA: Saw a house on Menaul with two different siding colors on the same wall

I was driving past a place near Menaul and Wyoming yesterday and noticed the front wall had one side done in gray vinyl and the other in beige. I mean, it looked like they ran out of the first color halfway through. Maybe it's just me but I can't tell if that's a cheap patch job or if there's a reason, like maybe they're matching an old faded section. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing around town and know what's up with it?

My neighbor had a patch job like @masonpark's story, and a good power wash made the old and new siding match way better.

My buddy over on San Mateo had the same thing happen last year. His contractor messed up the order and only got half the siding he needed. They slapped on a totally different shade of blue just to finish the job before winter. Honestly, it still looks weird and he's saving up to fix it right.
