I finally noticed my colleague bonds fading after we went fully digital.
When our company switched to full remote, I thought it would be fine. But over time, I saw my close chats with colleagues drop off. We used to grab coffee and vent about clients, but now it's just Zoom calls. I MISS those random hallway talks that led to real connections. Now, everything is scheduled and feels forced. I tried setting up virtual happy hours, but they fizzle out fast. It's HARD to keep friendships alive when you're not sharing the same space. I wonder if others feel this too.

I really feel you on missing those random hallway talks. Scheduled Zoom calls lack the spark of natural chats. I've tried virtual coffee breaks too, but they often feel like just another meeting. It's tough to replicate the ease of sharing a space. We're all navigating this new way of connecting, and it's not easy.

Maybe try a quick voice note instead of a full video call. It feels more like a passing comment and way less pressure to perform. Sometimes the lowest effort tools work best for keeping that casual vibe alive.

You know how those scheduled virtual hangouts feel like just another meeting? I think the problem is we try to make digital stuff replace the old natural chats, and it never really works. Like, a 15-minute "virtual coffee" with one person where you just shoot the breeze works way better for me than a big awkward happy hour. It's less about keeping friendship alive and more about letting a quick chat happen without a big plan.
